DESCRIPTION
Palermo boasts a big heritage of churches which are famous worldwide because of their unique history, architecture, fresco paintings, mosaics and plasters.
You can take a short walk from Bedda Mari Rooms&Suite and visit some of the most famous and beautiful churches of Palermo such as the Church of San Domenico with its Baroque façade and its Norman-Gothic cloister; The Church of San Cataldo, San Matteo, Santa Maria della Pietà in the old Kalsa district, the Oratory of Santa Cita and many more. Just a few minutes’ walking distance from your accomodation, you will find the Church of Santa Maria della Catena. Probably the most important example of Reinassance in Sicilian architecture, especially in Palermo, with a mix of late Renaissance and Gothic-Catalan styles.
The room overlooks one of the most ancient streets of Palermo, that changed name throughout the centuries due to the different craft workers and professions. It was called street of the “Chiodara” ( “nail artisans” in local dilect), of the “Sellari” (“saddle artisans”), of the “Chitarrara” (“guitar artisans”), of the “Librara” (“booksellers”) and of the “Cintorinai” (“belt artisans”). Today, Via Alessandro Paternostro, full of ancient buildings, continues its traditions thanks to some of the oldest and well-know leather goods shops.
If all this wondering around the district makes you feel hungry and willing to eat some traditional food without leaving the “ancient craft” atmosphere, you can stop by La Buatta. This famous and very good restaurant is located inside the old leather good shop “Quattrocchi” that you can admire from your room!
A modern design room with typical sicilian details.
